One Bullfrog

One Bullfrog is an illustrated story and song book. Starting with one bullfrog, many different animals try to pile onto a log. How many animals will the log be able to hold before it breaks?

The illustrations of animals of the Southwest -- coyotes, bears, rattlesnakes, lizards -- are marvelous. The book contains a glossary about the animals as well as a CD of the song and sheet music.

One Bullfrog was written during Sid's residency at the Beklabito Day School on the Navajo reservation near Shiprock, New Mexico. Sid asked first graders to choose their favorite animal from the area where they lived. The animals were written down and organized by size. They decided to see how many they could get on a log and came up with fifty before the log broke.

SID HAUSMAN loves good horses and stories of the Wild West. When not writing cowboy tales and western lore, Sid performs at Cowboy Poetry Gatherings and Folk Festivals across the country. This troubadour has also performed four times at the Edinburgh International Folk Festival in Scotland and has written and illustrated three books for children. He is a strong and varied instrumentalist playing banjo, guitar, ukulele, harmonica and bones. Sid's songs and stories reflect his experience with ranching in the rural environment of the southwest.
