Bur Bur Throws Out the First Pitch: An Exciting Baseball Experience (Bur Bur & Friends)

After practicing and practicing, Bur Bur finally gets to throw out the first pitch at the baseball game.

* Bur Bur Throws Out the First Pitch was such a nice story, very simple and had a good feeling and message about it. It was very simple and easy to understand even for littler ones, and had lots of nice and easier words for early readers. * The positive characteristic of this book was that it showed my child how the character worked hard at his task and was proud of his accomplishment. * The story line of this book is a dream come true for every little baseball fan. This is a great book for offering non-fiction information about the topic in a fictional story. The illustrations are vivid and colorful, attracting the younger reader. The simple picture definitions, along with the more in depth rules of the game that were located after the story at the end of the book were a great addition. -- iParenting Media Award Reviewer

"I Love These Books. I just love books. I don't get a lot of grown-up reading done, but when it comes to books my 2-year-old Will wants to read, I'm sitting there right beside him. A colleague passed on this really wonderful series of stories about a little boy who does fun outdoor stuff--Bur Bur Goes Boating, Throws Out the First Pitch and has a Fishing Adventure--and I've been reading them to Will ever since. The illustrations are super - simple and colorful and painterly and ... well, you'll have to get a book to see for yourself. And here's something else that's cool about the books: Bur Bur is a bi-racial little boy. Two moms of of bi-racial kids couldn't find books that showed children of various races playing together so they created them. "Our books are designed to inspire kids to get active and also to reflect the diverse world that they live in," says co-author JoAnne Pastel, the co-founder of Farmer's Hat Productions. This is only the start--there will be more books as well as toys, hats and t-shirts." -- Barrie Gillies, Senior Editor, Parents Magazine

"My daughter immediately grabbed your Bur Bur and Friends books, and would not put them down. My daughter is not an avid reader, so as a parent, it was great to see her enthralled in your books." -- Amy Bowllan, The School Library Journal
