The Buried Cache: A Reported Account of the Israel Keyes Crimes, Pursuit, and Legal Proceedings

In the years before law enforcement knew his name, Israel Keyes moved through the United States with a deliberateness that the investigation would spend months trying to fully account for. He held a steady job. He raised a daughter. He lived on a quiet street in Anchorage, Alaska, and nobody around him had reason to look twice.

He had also been burying things in the ground across the country. Years before he needed them. In states he had no visible connection to. Waiting.

The Buried Cache is a reported account of the Israel Keyes case — the crimes, the pursuit, and the federal legal proceedings that followed his arrest in March 2012. It is drawn entirely from the public record and written in the tradition of serious investigative nonfiction.

What the investigation established is in these pages. What it could not reach is in here too.
