The Burke And Wills Exploring Expedition: An Account Of The Crossing The Continent Of Australia, From Cooper's Creek To Carpentaria (1861)

The Burke and Wills Exploring Expedition is a historical account written by Robert O'Hara Burke, detailing the journey of his expedition across the continent of Australia in 1861. The book chronicles the expedition's departure from Melbourne, their journey through the harsh Australian outback, and their eventual arrival at the Gulf of Carpentaria. Along the way, Burke describes the challenges the team faced, including treacherous terrain, extreme weather conditions, and encounters with Indigenous Australians. The expedition is perhaps best known for the tragic deaths of Burke and his colleague William John Wills, who perished on their return journey after successfully reaching their destination. The book provides an important historical record of one of the most significant exploration expeditions in Australian history, and offers valuable insights into the challenges and triumphs of early Australian exploration. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
