About the Authors
Ken Black is currently Professor of Decision Sciences in the School of Business and Public Administration at the University of Houston - Clear Lake. Born in Cambridge, Massachusettes and raised in Missouri, he earned a Bachelor's degree in mathematics from Graceland College, a Master's degree in math education from the University of Texas at El Paso, a Ph.D. in business administration in management science, and a Ph.D. in educational research from the University of North Texas.
Since joining the faculty in 1979, Professor Black has taught all levels of statistics courses, forecasting, management science, market research, and production/operations management. He has published fifteen journal articles and over twenty professional papers as well as two textbooks, Business Statistics: An Introductory Course and Business Statistics: Contemporary Decision Making. He has consulted with many different companies including Aetna, City of Houston, NYLCare, AT&T, Johnson Space Center, Southwest Information Resources, Connect Corporation, and Eagle Engineering.
Ken Black and his wife Carolyn have two daughters: Caycee and Wendi. His hobbies include playing the guitar, reading, coaching girls' softball, and participating in Master's track and field as a long jumper and a triple jumper.
David L. Eldredge is Professor of Computer Science in the College of Business and Public Policy at Murray State University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering from Iowa State University, and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in operations research from the Ohio State University.
Professor Eldredge's current teaching responsibilities include management science for Murray State University's MBA program and business statistics for the undergraduate business administration program. He served as Dean of the College of Business for eight years. Dave Eldredge has had over fifteen books and papers published primarily in the areas of simulation and gaming, and the use of Microsoft® Excel for data analysis. He also has ten years of industrial experience with four different Fortune 500 firms.
Dave Eldredge and his wife Judy are parents of three daughters -- Kristi, Lynn and Tracey - and have seven grandchildren. The Eldredges share a love for camping and travel, they have visited all 50 states and many other countries.
