The Button Boy

By 2029, the effects of global warming coupled with the depletion of oil drastically reduced the world's population. Then an unforgiving winter storm arrived in the Pacific Northwest. Through that period of unrelenting winds and sub-zero temperatures, the few survivors formed together in 'families' for protection. Their plight is made even more difficult by a military patrol assigned to guard the last remaining gasoline reserves on the west coast. This is the story of a young boy that unites two families to fight back against the tyranny of these soldiers.

Lawrence Kadow grew up in a farming community centered in the northwest corner of Washington State. The Cascade Mountains and the waters of Puget Sound were the background for his life experiences. His wide range of occupations included bicycle mechanic, mountain guide, teacher, refinery worker, and healthcare professional. His stories are spawned by his appreciation for that special corner of the United States and his love for the great outdoors.
