Very scarce printing from 1870s of this unusual children's book. Hand-colored engraved illustrations throughout the book. Red cloth covers with elaborate gilt and black decoration. The covers have wear and the color is flecked off the cloth covers in places. Corners and edges are worn. Brown endpapers have some pencil marking. Wonderful full page colored engraved title page. Publisher info missing.HInges cracked but holding. Otherwise , a nice copy inside.
