Synopsis:

A selection of Lord Byron's poetry.

About the Author: George Gordon Byron (1788 - 1824) was one of the greatest Romantic poets. Childe Harold's Pilgrimage made him famous overnight and this increased with a series of popular 'Eastern Tales'. His marriage to Annabella Milbanke lasted only a year and he shocked society by reportedly having an affair with his half-sister. In 1816 he left England forever, living in Italy and supporting both the Italian and Greek revolutionary movements. Susan J. Wolfson is Professor of English at Princeton University. She has published widely on Romanticism. Peter J. Manning is currently Professor and Chair of English at Stony Brook University, and a widely recognised authority on Byron.
