About the Author

Joseph J. Rishel is the Gisela and Dennis Alter Senior Curator of European Painting before 1900 and Senior Curator of the John G. Johnson Collection and the Rodin Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art. He is the co-editor of The Arts in Latin America, 1492–1820. Katherine Sachs is an Adjunct Curator in the Department of European Painting before 1900, Philadelphia Museum of Art.
