Da esse traspare la necessit� – da cui tutto dipende e a cui Webern dava massima importanza – che la musica e il suono fossero intesi come “natura regolata da leggi” in rapporto all’orecchio. Qualcosa, vale a dire, che � sottratto all’arbitrio umano. Il cammino della musica occidentale � dunque visto da Webern come uno sviluppo progressivo – per tappe e passaggi sempre pi� raffinati – di una lingua e di un pensiero autonomi. E affinch� ci� possa avvenire i pensieri musicali devono essere espressi e trovare sbocco in forme intelligibili. � proprio questo l’ambito di ricerca del vero relazionarsi al passato per trovare forme di connessione (tra suoni) sempre pi� alte ed evolute.
