Nancy (Barouch) Burns-Silver was born and raised in New York City. She graduated summa cum laude from SUNY Albany and has lived in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and California. She worked hard to support herself and her daughter, Whitney Berk Uklist, first as a corporate art consultant, then as the Director of SAles and Marketing for a large architectural firm, and later as the owner of her own commercial interior design firm. Most recently she has worked as a marketing executive for Empire, a prominent commercial furniture dealership in New York City. A true, spirited, hard-driving New Yorker, she always knows where to shop, where to eat, and how to get things done. But her life changed in a heartbeat along with her priorities when she learned she had multiple myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow.
During her frequent trips to doctor's offices and hospitals, and her many days of chemotherapy and multiple transfusions, she met many cancer patients and their caregivers. They were all as confused as she was about what steps to take regarding cancer care. "Cancer Made Easier" is the direct result of her personal search.
Nancy lives in Manhattan with her husband, Bill, and is currently at work on "Cancer Made Easier" editions for other major cities across the country.

Dr. Gulati's approach has continued to inspire his patients, including Nancy Burns-Silver, and lead them on the road to health and recovery. He now maintains a Medical Oncology and Hematology practice in New York City and Westchester.
