You still get to decide who you become.
What happens next is up to you. Whatever brought you to this program, however you feel about being here, the outcome is not already written.
Patterns that made sense under pressure, in training, in combat, in survival mode, don’t always carry over well to the people closest to you, and that’s exactly what this program is designed to help you understand.
This workbook was written for you specifically, not for a generic client but for someone who has served, who carries what service leaves behind, and who is ready to look honestly at what needs to change.
What you’ll work through:
• Why you respond the way you do: Combat exposure, TBI, chronic stress, and the nervous system patterns built for survival don’t just switch off. This program helps you understand what’s actually driving your behavior so you can change it.
• What military life taught you about relationships: The roles, expectations, and communication patterns shaped by service affect how you show up at home. Recognizing them is the first step to choosing something different.
• Real accountability, not just completion: This program is not about sitting through enough sessions to reach the end. It’s about developing real insight into your patterns and making changes that hold.
The same discipline and values that carried you through your service can carry you through this work too.
“The CARE method was a life-changing experience, providing invaluable insight into my behaviors and triggers. The curriculum’s comprehensive approach and supportive group setting helped me gain confidence and understand myself better. This method has given me the tools to maintain my happiness and sobriety.”
“When I found this curriculum, I was addicted, angry, and hopeless. In one year, it transformed my life, helping me overcome my struggles with dignity and respect. Today, I’m a better father and person, with self-esteem, confidence, and a renewed ability to face life’s challenges. This curriculum gave me the tools to rebuild my life, and for that, I am forever grateful.”
Eronilde “Nil” Buckley, MA, LAC, LPC, DVCS, NCC, ACS, is a mental health counselor, former military widow, and founder of Vivus Counseling Services. Her clinical work with service members and veterans, including years with the El Paso County Veterans Trauma Court, led to the creation of the CARE Method. This military edition honors the community she has spent her career serving.
