A modernist sculpture by Brazilian sculptor Robert Cidade, depicting a gauderio - the traditional horseman of southern Brazil. Cast bronze with patina surface and mounted on a wooden base. The artist's signature, "RCIDADE," is incised on the front of the wooden base, accompanied by a limited edition marking of "22/100" on the back. Sculpture measures 10.5 in. x 3.75 in.(with base 12 in. x 4 in.) In Very Good condition. Bronze with intentionally textured casting surface and subtle patina variations. Wood base with light wear. Shelved at Rockville, Room J. Roberto Cidade (1939-2011) is known for his bronze figures rooted in the cultural traditions of Rio Grande do Sul. His gauderio and gaucho subjects are widely collected in Brazil, and his minimalist handling of form aligns with broader mid-20th-century Latin American modernism. 1406962.
