The book is entirely in French and is a listing of 1463 rare books in the following catagories: Théologie, Jurisprudence, Sciences et Arts, Belles-Lettres, Historire. Some of the listing go back to the middle of the 17th century; others are as late as the early 19th century. There is a four-page introduction to the catalogue by Francois, the bookseller, who lists the psuedonyms used by the Elzeviers when printing controversial books.
