Cavalleria rusticana is a novel belonging to the first collection of novels by Giovanni Verga entitled Vita dei campi , published by Treves in Milan in 1880 . It is a story of love and jealousy , set in a Sicilian country, Vizzini , in the second half of the nineteenth century , following the Millennium Company of Giuseppe Garibaldi of 1860 and the Unity of Italy of 1861. It is one of Giovanni Verga's most famous texts: in fact, the plot was used for the libretto of the famous opera by Pietro Mascagni . The work was a great success. Ref GG4 Size: 158pp.
