It names 165 places across 227 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries fifteen casualty and personnel returns, five reports, narratives and plans, seven Operation Orders, six appendices, one map and five diagrams. Among the papers are: Roll of officers by Squadrons.; Battle casualties incurred during period 20th. November-7th. App. M.The diary opens at Shorncliffe on 4 August 1914. 1914 is spent at Lognes, Gapaard, Shorncliffe and Vauxcere. 1915 at Noordpeene, Bayenghem, Wallon Cappel, Strazeele and Ecques. 1916 at Bayenghem, Villeroy Sur Authie, Foret De Nieppe, Le Wast and Bivouac near Dernancourt. 1917 at Villeroy Sur Authie, Boubers Sur Canche, Villers Sur Authie, Remiencourt and Gaudiempre. 1918 is the most travelled year, 74 places against 40 in the next busiest, and is spent at Beussent, Fresnoy au Val, Bapaume, Beausaint and Devise. 1919 at Esneux, Grotten Herten, Palleur, Eynatten and Kirchberg. It closes at Grotten Herten on 31 March 1919.
