CDM Regulations Procedures Manual: A Practitioner's Guide

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994 require all those involved in construction to adopt an integrated approach to health and safety management. Clients, designers and contractors, together with planning supervisors, must now work together to ensure that health and safety management issues are considered throughout all phases of a project.

This encompasses the consideration of health and safety issues from inception to design, construction, operation and maintenance through to final demolition and dismantling. Appropriate procedures must be established to ensure that documentation is clear and a structured approach is adopted by all those involved in a project to ensure that the requirements of the regulations are complied with.

This Procedures Manual provides a documentation system that was developed by a practising planning supervisor. It addresses the full range of obligations of the client, planning supervisor, designer(s), principal contractor and subcontractors for compliance with the statutory requirements and features: ? flowlists ? checklists ? model forms (including service agreements, notices and health & safety plans] ? standard letters and proformas. In addition to providing the necessary documentary record, the Procedures Manual also functions as a control document for quality assurance purposes.

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations - or CDM Regulations as they are better known - have had a major impact on construction health and safety since they were introduced in 1995. Since then, there has still been little practical guidance on how to operate the Regulations. This book will fill that gap by providing a series of checklists and standard forms and letters for administering the Regulations.
