THE BOOK CONTAINS A HISTORY OF THE FLOURISHING OF SOCIOLOGY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO FROM THE TURN OF THE CENTURY TO WORLD WAR TWO WITH A CONCENTRATION OF THE SOCIOLOGY DEPARTMENT ON ITS MOST PRODUCTIVE PERIOD. THERE IS A FOREWARD BY MORRIS JANOWITZ. THERE IS A 38 PAGE INDEX WITH THE NAMES OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS THAT OBTAINED A PHD AND/OR MASTERS DEGREES IN SOCIOLOGY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO ALONG WITH THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF PROMINENT UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO PROFESSORS AT THE COMPLETTION OF THE BOOK. THERE IS A VERY SMALL INK MARKING ON THE FRONT COVER THAT MOST LIKELY BLOTS OUT THE BOOK'S ORIGINAL PRICE.
