COMMISSION APPOINTED BY THE DUTCH GOVERNMENT ON KYAN'S PROCESS

This is a bound compendium (circa 1835) of various period scientific articles on the control of dry rot in timber and Naval vessels. On the Navy Estimates: shewing the Expense of Building and Repairing his Majesty's Navy, from the Year 1800 to 1820 with Remarks on the Adoption in his Majesty's Dock-Yards of Kyan's Patent Process for Prevention of Dry Rot in Timber, by Mercator, 1834, J. And C. Adlard. 6) Copy of the Report from the Committee Appointed by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to Investigate Mr. Kyan's Patent for the Prevention of Dry Rot in Timber, &c. Bound together in 1/2 Leather marbled covers with marbled endpapers and foredge (foredge only on the last document, the resting being in smaller format and with differing paper sizes and types). Two PO bookplates in the front, one over the other, the top from reading "Library, Engineer School, U. S. Army", ex-library with the usual marks, some wear to the corners but still square and just a hint of board showning, spine with nice readable gilt. Two of the articles have notched pages of 1/4 x 2 inches in the bottom margin, material still attached at the spine, looks to be a side effect of a binding issue, does not impact text or overall attactiveness. Pages toned and unmarked, toning varies by article due to the different papers used, just a bare hint of foxing occassionally. A nice, clean, tight and attractive book none the less.…
