CONCIENCE AND COMMITMENT History of the Wesleyan Methodist Church

Part of The Wesleyan History Series, Conscience and Commitment reveals the passion for justice that formed The Wesleyan Methodist Church.

In every age there are those who rebel against the status quo. In the nineteenth century, they were called Wesleyans. Orange Scott was one of the most feared abolitionists of his day. Luther Lee preached the ordination sermon for the first woman ordained in America. Abolitionism. Temperance. Women's rights. Social reform. The Wesleyan Methodist Church was born from a passion to enact the gospel. Conscience and Commitment reveals the fervor that sustained the movement through the bitter divisions of the Civil War, fomented the holiness revival, and established a thriving denomination.
