CONFIDENCE

What if confidence isn't about being the loudest person in the room, but about being grounded in who you really are?

Many capable, caring, gifted people struggle with self-doubt. They hold back their ideas, talk themselves out of opportunities, and quietly wonder, "Who do I think I am?" If that sounds familiar, you are not alone, and you are not stuck.

In Confidence: What It Is, Where to Find It, and How to Nurture It, leadership consultant and researcher Terra Utter shows that real confidence isn't arrogance, fearlessness, or people-pleasing. It's a quiet, grounded belief that, with God's help and your own growing ability, you can meet what is in front of you. Drawing on research in self-efficacy and positive psychology and on the timeless wisdom of Scripture, this warm, practical guide shows how that kind of confidence is built.

Inside, you'll discover:

• What confidence really is: how it differs from self-esteem, arrogance, and shrinking back
• Why capable people feel like impostors: and how to break the cycle of self-doubt
• The four proven sources of confidence: your own wins, the example of others, encouraging words, and a steady body and mind
• Confidence rooted in identity: why who God says you are matters more than how you perform
• Practical tools: calming nerves, growing through mistakes, being kind to yourself, and taking small acts of courage
• How to build confidence in others: as a parent, leader, mentor, or friend

Every chapter ends with a Scripture to hold, reflection questions, and a simple "Try This" exercise, so you can put each idea into practice right away. It works well on your own or with a small group.

If you've been waiting to feel ready, this book will help you take the next step anyway, with quiet courage and a steady heart.
