Joseph Roth (Brody, 1894-Par�s, 1939) es autor de La tela de ara�a (1923), Hotel Savoy y La rebeli�n (ambas publicadas en 1924), El espejo ciego (1925), Fuga sin fin y Jud�os errantes (publicadas en 1927), Zipper y su padre (1928), Job (1930), Jefe de estaci�n Fallmerayer (1933), El triunfo de la belleza y Tarabas (ambas de 1934), El busto del Emperador (1935), La Cripta de los Capuchinos (1938), La leyenda del santo bebedor (1939), Cartas (1911-1939), as� como de las recopilaciones de art�culos La filial del infierno en la tierra (2003) y Primavera de Caf� (2001), todas ellas publicadas en Acantilado. La amarga experiencia del derrumbamiento del mundo de los Habsburgo y sus consecuencias psicol�gicas, as� como la obligada marcha de los jud�os de Europa central hacia Occidente, fueron desde el inicio los temas centrales en su obra. En 1933, emigr� a Francia, donde muri�. Desde entonces es considerado, con creciente unanimidad, como uno de los mayores talentos de nuestro tiempo.
