CRISPUS ATTUCKS: FIRST TO DIE FOR AMERICAN FREEDOM

The legacy of Crispus Attucks transcends the battlefield. He is remembered not only as a victim of colonial oppression but also as a shining example of the contributions of Black Americans in the Revolutionary War. In the fight for independence, hundreds of Black soldiers joined their white counterparts in the conflict against British rule. Their courage and sacrifice were pivotal in the struggle for America's freedom. Notably, figures like Paul Cuffee, a Black merchant from Philadelphia, played crucial roles beyond the battlefield, helping to finance the Revolutionary cause. Additionally, individual soldiers like Peter Salem distinguished themselves in combat, particularly at the Battle of Bunker Hill, where Salem's valor turned the tide for American patriots.
