Written by the Assistant District Commissioner of Southern Nigeria, this is an example of "anthropology in its infancy." This ethnography relates observations of many aspects of the Obubura tribe of Nigeria including their agricultural production, their social and marital customs, their festivals and music-making, and their "secret societies." Features many photographs of the natives and their daily lives as well as pictures of their carved statues and large stone circles, complete with speculations on their origins.
