THE CULT OF PAIN: A Brandon House Library Edition

287pp. Translated by Paul Anhalt. Introduction by Albert W. Lowy, Ph.D. An erotic work featuring flagellation and sadomasochism. On the surface the club appeared to be simply another colorless organization for the highest niche of socially prominent English Ladies. But beneath the tinkle of teacups and the shallow rattle of genteel conversation, there lurked an insatiable monster before whose altar knelt in total devotion. The Cult of Pain is an explosive study in prose of the demented passions which drove those Ladies to the murky depths of evil in their quest for the final secret thrill. The original French text was first published at Amsterdam in two volumes in 1889 by Auguste Brancart. I am obliged to Michel Limpens for information on this translation. From the library of Patrick J. Kearney, with his small name sticker at the bottom of the front pastedown. 3020. Paperback. Light shelfwear. Very Good.
