Item description from seller

A major selling point for cyclists was the number of telephone pay stations located in many of the depots of the Long Island Railroad, provided by The New York and New Jersey Telephone Company: "It lessens the incidental woes of the cyclist when his wheel is disabled to know that he can within easy distance find a telephone station, where he may call up a stable and get carriage to come to his relief." 18 p. with a color folding map (17 ½ x 5 ¼"). Original printed burgundy paper wrappers. Near fine. Scarce, OCLC locates only three holdings: Stony Brook, Tuoro College, and Wisconsin Historical Society, with a 1900 issue at NYPL and an apparently undated issue at the Queens Borough Public Library.
