Caesarius von Heisterbach, circa 1180 in Koln oder der naheren Umgebung geboren und dort aufgewachsen, wurde 1199 Monch im Zisterzienser-Kloster Heisterbach im Siebengebirge; um 1240 versiegen die Quellen uber ihn. Sein Hauptwerk, der Dialogus miraculorum enthalt rund 750 Kurzgeschichten (exempla), die Caesarius nach zwolf Themenkreisen (distinctiones) geordnet hat. Die Beliebtheit seiner Sammlung zeigt sich insbesondere darin, dass mehr als hundert mittelalterliche Handschriften seines Dialogus bekannt sind. Um das Werk lebendig zu gestalten, hat Caesarius die einzelnen exempla in einen Dialog zwischen einem Monch in der Rolle des Novizenmeisters und einem Novizen eingekleidet. Beide bleiben anonym, doch tritt hinter dem Monch die Gestalt des Caesarius hervor, der selbst Novizenmeister war. Die prazisen Schilderungen des mittelalterlichen Lebens thematisieren zum Beispiel den harten klosterlichen Alltag oder berichten von Ereignissen, die sich im kollektiven Gedachntnis der Zeit fest einbrannten, wie die Flutkatastrophe von Friesland. Caesarius fangt in seinem Dialogus miraculorum die facettenreiche Welt zu Beginn des 13. Jahrhunderts wie in einem Kaleidoskop ein. Band 1 enthalt die Einleitung, Inhaltsverzeichnis (Index Capitulorum) und die ersten beiden Distinktionen (De conversione, De contritione). Band 2 die Distinktionen 3 und 4 (De confessione, De tentatione), Band 3 die Distinktionen 5-7 (De daemonibus, De simplicitate, De sancta Maria), Band 4 die Distinktionen 8-10 (De visionibus, De corpore Christi, De miraculis), Band 5 die Distinktionen 11 und 12 (De morientibus, De praemio mortuorum) sowie Bibliographie und Register. The books that are offered online are not available at our bookshop at 48 Kloosterstraat.
You will receive an e-mail confirming the availability of the book(s) and providing details with regard to shipment costs (we use Belgian and Dutch postal companies for the most cost-effective shipments.
The indicated shipment costs have been calculated according to the rates for shipments of up to 2 kilo. We will choose the most cost-effective shipment option, depending on the weight: either letter post or parcel post.
