Son of Cain

A powerful fantasy set in the pre-flood Noachian world that explores man's brokenness and the scope of God's grace. Dar'ock, a descendent of Cain, believes the curse placed on his forebearer and his forebearer's progeny is unfair. Ignoring the evil of his own ways, he is determined to "have words with the god that cursed him." He enslaves Garfe, a troglodyte, to be his guide. Garfe proves to be a constant challenge. He serves an enchantress who has supernatural powers, and he lures Dar'ock into the tangles of her evil web. Once within the walls of the enchantress' lair, Yennea, a young slave-girl, becomes his conscience and confronts him with kindness he does not comprehend. However, in his self-serving arrogance he remains determined to confront God with injustice, which leads him to seek the Hidden City and a crazy man who is building a huge boat in a waterless land. Choices he makes have a price and lead to a powerful conclusion to his quest.

The author grew up in East Leroy, Michigan, a small town south of Battle Creek. He graduated from Athens High School, and served in the Army during the Viet Nam War era. After serving in the Army he graduated from Appalachian Bible College and Berean Christian College, majoring in pastoral ministry, teaching and theology. He has been a Christian school teacher, a pastor, a youth pastor, assistant mission director, mission director, and has been writing Christian fantasy fiction since his two sons were knee high to a gnome. He was a member of a sci-fi fantasy writers’ group in the Seattle area for twelve years, and presently lives in Pahrump, Nevada, a sprawling town in the Mojave Desert with his wife, Sue, where he leads a writers’ group.
