First edition. Long oblong octavo. xvv [ads], [1, ad], 278 pp. Plus a fold-out panorama in color entitled: Bird's-Eye View of California Showing Its Prominent topographical Features, Location of Principal Cities, Towns and Points of Note, and Line of the Southern Pacific Company, 1896. Illustrated with a great number of photographic illustrations. Numerous ads throughout. Publisher's pictorial wrappers printed in gold and magenta. Old stain to upper spine of front wrapper, 2 pages have illustrations cut out but the text remains. Some erosion to lower spine. Overall, a very good and clean copy of this scarce publication. OCLC only locates 1 copy with the same pagination.Printed by the E. O. Taylor Company (who also have the most beautiful ad in the book). There is some mention on OCLC of this being a semiannual periodical but we think this is false. The first edition was two years earlier. That issue and the one offered here are the only two recorded. While it passes itself off as a souvenir or promotional book, it is, in fact, mainly a business directory. Seller Inventory # 74293
