About the Author
David Brown practices law in the Monterey, California area. Brown, a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Santa Clara Law School, also teaches law at the Monterey College of Law and is also the author of Beat Your Ticket and The California Landlord's Law Book: Evictions. Mr. Brown lives in Monterey, California.Ralph "Jake" Warner is widely regarded as a pioneer of the self-help law movement, Warner founded Nolo in 1972. He began publishing do-it-yourself law books written by himself and his colleagues after being rejected by numerous publishers. He has written many books, including Get a Life and How to Run a Thriving Business. Today, he serves as chairman of Nolo's board of directors. Janet Portman is the Managing Editor at Nolo. She specializes in residential and commercial landlord/tenant law, legal issues related to courts, landlords and tenants, and neighbor disputes. She is the co-author of several Nolo titles including Every Landlord's Legal Guide, Every Landlord's Guide to Finding Great Tenants and Every Tenant's Legal Guide.
