Besides the venerable Zeitlin & Ver Brugge, there is Kurt Merlander, Kurt Schwarz, Bennett & Marshall, Maxwell Hunley, Nick Kovach and many others. Edith Coulter's article "Collecting California at the University of California" starts with the acquisition of Alexander Smith Taylor's personal library at Monterey in 1855, in June 1897 the Robert E. Cowan Library (which came via a purchase by Collis P. Huntington) included 3,300 pamphlets, 12,000 pages of manuscripts, and miscellaneous ephemera ranging from maps and newspapers to early Spanish newspapers.
