Using fifty puzzles from real-life games, What's Your Call? presents the essentials of curling strategy in an easy-to-understand, enjoyable format. Far from the stuffy coaching of old, this is not your run-of-the-mill curling manual! Instead, you'll view an actual game situation, decide what shot you would call - then scan the QR code with your phone to watch what the pro Skip actually played. Following each puzzle, the guys discuss the key lessons that apply to both club and competitive play.
You'll learn about
- The Fundamentals of Strategy
- The Three Golden Questions of Skipping
- Choking Guards
- Wing Nullifiers
- the Come to Momma Defence,
- the Chicken Little, One-in-the-Bank and Go Big or Go Home Offences
and many, many more principles that apply to all levels of curling.
It's an interactive cheat sheet - breaking down the basics of curling tactics and strategy, isolating fundamental principles and helping you move up the skipping learning curve - fast! It also includes a Strategy Primer to help you get going. If you're an aspiring curler trying to improve your game, this guide is for you.

About the Author
Mickey Pendergast is the two-time defending Canadian Masters champion, twelve-time Tour champion, and two-time Alberta runner-up, one game away from the Brier. A long-time competitive curler growing up playing in the curling hothouse that is Alberta, Mickey is now finding form, beating Al Hackner (the Iceman) to win his most recent Masters title. He also coaches several competitive men's teams in Alberta. He credits much of his success to competing against former world champions like Kevin Martin, Randy Ferbey, Pat Ryan, Ed Lukowich and all the others that seem to grow on trees out there. Mickey has always been know for his outstanding grasp of strategy. In reviewing his team's chances against Martin, Ferbey, Koe and the rest in the 2007 Alberta Provincials, the Calgary Herald acknowledged that "no one will outskip Pendergast.""Figuring out how to play against those guys, and sometimes beat them, made us a much better team," he says. "And now working on these puzzles with Doug, what I find interesting intersting is how these conversations helped to clarify and crystallize many of the strategy basics that had become instinctual to me through the decades that I've played. By having to explain the rationale behind various calls, I was forced to put into words the ideas and concepts that had become more like gut feelings to me over the years."
