The Call to Pickings

"An incredible read. I laughed, wept, and was encouraged to keep on keeping on." -Brother Roy Ford, Fifty-five years and counting as a pastor of Southern Baptist Convention churches

Marine veteran and former cop William Robert Darby, fresh from seminary, with his wife, Evangeline, and their daughter. Tiara Joy, answers the call to his first pastorate in Pickings, Texas. Only a handful attend their first Sunday. As they visit absent members, they discover many folks are staying away because of the "devil in the pew." A formidable foe, entrenched in the town's most prominent family attempts to thwart their every effort. Darby had been warned that being a pastor can sometimes be tougher than being a police officer. He believes that God equips whom He calls -- wills those words of faith prove true?
