- Book 1 of 1: “The Wellness After 50 Series”- Simple Science-Based Guides for a Healthier, Happier Second Half of Life
A Science-Backed Guide to Reducing Stress, Restoring Emotional Balance, and Living with Ease in the Second Half of Life
Stress after 50 feels different—and if you’ve noticed that your patience is thinner, your sleep lighter, your worries louder, or your emotions harder to manage, you are not imagining it.
Calm After 50 was written for adults who feel emotionally overloaded despite doing “everything right.” For those who have carried responsibilities for decades—careers, families, finances, caregiving, health changes—and now wonder why stress feels heavier than it used to.
This book offers a reassuring truth:
Nothing is wrong with you. Your nervous system is simply asking for a new approach.
Blending modern science with practical, easy-to-apply strategies, Calm After 50 explains why stress changes with age—and more importantly, how to work with your body and mind instead of fighting them.
Inside this book, you will discover:
• Why stress responses intensify after 50 and how hormones, lifestyle shifts, and life transitions affect emotional health
• How your nervous system really works—and how to calm it gently and effectively
• Simple breathing, grounding, and movement techniques that work in minutes, not hours
• How overthinking, emotional fatigue, digital overload, and hidden anxieties quietly increase stress
• Why “doing less” often creates more peace
• How food, sleep, movement, and environment influence emotional balance
• Practical ways to build calm habits without pressure or perfection
• How to communicate, set boundaries, and handle change with confidence
• Why purpose, connection, and self-kindness are essential stress reducers after 50
• A clear, personalized calm plan you can realistically maintain
This is not a book about forcing positivity, ignoring emotions, or pushing through stress. It does not ask you to become someone new. Instead, it helps you build calm as a physiological skill—one that can be learned, practiced, and strengthened at any age.
Written in a warm, conversational tone, Calm After 50 respects your life experience. It acknowledges the realities of aging, responsibility, and change—without fear, judgment, or unrealistic promises.
Whether you are newly retired, still working, caring for loved ones, managing health changes, or simply feeling emotionally tired, this book meets you where you are.
You do not need to meditate for hours.
You do not need to overhaul your life.
You do not need to “be stronger.”
You only need better tools—and this book provides them.
Calm After 50 is the first book in The Wellness After 50 Series, a compassionate, science-informed roadmap for emotional resilience, clarity, and well-being in the years ahead.
Your calm is not behind you.
Your most balanced, steady, and peaceful years can begin now.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
