Cameron Plays: 1: Can't Stand Up for Falling Down; Pond Life; The Mortal Ash; All of You Mine

Richard Cameron's most popular and acclaimed work together in one volume introduced by the author

This volume includes Can't Stand Up for Falling Down, Pond Life, Mortal Ash and All of You Mine. Can't Stand Up for Falling Down, written as interweaving monologues, is a contemporary coming-of-age play set in rural Yorkshire and centres around a death that may not be quite as accidental as it seems "Cameron's play is itself cumulatively and salutarily devastating...building up a picture from many partial perspectives, the monologues are beautifully arranged" (Independent); Pond Life is a play about a life-changing fishing expedition "the unpatronisingly sensitive vignette of adolescence explores more angles than angling in these youngsters' lives" (Mail on Sunday); Mortal Ash is a tale of youthful love, death and regeneration; All of You Mine deals with the miners' strike of 1984 and it's effects on an ex-pit village near Doncaster "there is a remorseless Ibsen-like vigour about the way he uncovers lies, motives and bad faith" (Sunday Times)."Over the past few years, Cameron has emerged as the shrewd chronicler of a small-town, post industrial England whose experience is quite distinct from that of city dwellers." (Guardian)
