Canadian Social Policy: An Introduction (3rd Edition)

The market leader in policy analysis and social work studies, Canadian Social Policy is a comprehensive text with well reputed authors, a strong framework for analyzing social policies, and a much needed Canadian perspective.  The third edition considerably updates the analysis of current social policies and provides further analysis of social policy practice, and social policy development in a market state era of less government and ascendant liberal capitalist ideology.

Canadian Social Policy is an introductory text that provides a framework for analyzing social policies, with a much needed Canadian perspective.

This third edition considerably updates the analysis of current social policies and provides further analysis of social policy practice, and social policy development in a market state era of less government and ascendant liberal capitalist ideology.

The now prolonged assault on universal programs, the ever more limited scope of policies, the ascendancy of neo-conservative ideology, the growth of globalization, the imperative of diversity–these, among other phenomena, will greatly influence social work practice and social policy analysis in future years. It is essential, therefore, that students introduced to Canadian social policy understand these dynamics and have at their disposal an analytical frame of reference that will make them sensitive to the nuances of policy work and to the diverse needs of society’s most marginalized people.
