The Cape Coppersmith

This is the fourth publication to appear in the Stellenbosch Museum's "Cape" series. (The first was The Cape Chair/Die Kaapse Stoel by Hans Fransen, the second, The Cape Kitchen by Dr Mary Alexander Cook, and the third, The Cape Gunsmith by Barry Berkovitch.) The Cape Coppersmith provides information on those craftsmen who made the gleaming copper and brass utensils which formed such an essential part of the early Cape housewife's kitchen: the tart pans, coffee-pots, konfore, saucepans, kettles, skimmers, chamber-sticks and many other articles which have to-day become valued collectors' pieces.
