The Cardinal Mine: A Ghost of the Past

This is the history of a mine, one that has been silent and crumbling for fifty-seven years. First known as the Bishop Creek Gold Mine, it underwent complete reorganization in 1906 and became known as the Wilshire/ Bishop Creek Mine. In 1933, it came under complete new ownership and was then named the Cardinal Gold Mine. This book will cover not only the history and operation of the Bishop Creek/ Cardinal Gold Mine but include stories of the hard-working people who lived and worked at the mine for its forty-three years of operation. This close-knit community had a true family atmosphere, in spite of (or perhaps because of) the hardships they had to endure. The book also includes history and short stories of the town of Laws, the Edison Company, and the road leading up to the mine, as they played a big part in helping to establish and maintain the mine. I could not leave out the village of Aspendell as it is intimately connected with the area.
