Caring For/Caring About explores the complex nature of caring in Canadian society today. It examines the current research on women, home care, and unpaid caregiving, and identifies the social conditions under which caregiving is undertaken. The book examines the global and local forces that shape caregiving, as well as the diverse experiences of women who care.

Caring For/Caring About asks how we might create the conditions to make caring possible, for care is, after all, the objective and not the problem.

About the Author

Karen Grant works in the Department of Sociology at the University of Manitoba. She is also a member of the National Network on Environments and Women's Health. Carol Amartunga holds the University of Ottawa Chair in Women's Health. She is also a former member from the Atlantic Centre of Excellence for Women's Health. Pat Armstrong is a Distinguished Research Professor of Sociology, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and a professor in the Department of Sociology at York University.
Madeline Boscoe is a member from the Canadian Women's Health Network. Ann Pederson is a member of the British Columbia Centre of Excellence for Women's Health. Kay Willson is a program coordinator for the Prairie Women's Health Centre of Excellence. She also teaches as a sessional lecturer in the Department of Women's and Gender Studies at the University of Saskatchewan.
