About this Item

First edition. Blue cloth in unclipped jacket. Unpaginated. With color and black and white reproductions of Schneemann's work throughout. SIGNED, with a short inscription, by Carolee Schneeman, on the first endpaper. Divided into two sections, this work presents a catalogue to accompany two retrospective exhibitions at the Max Hutchinson Gallery in 1982 and 1983. This includes primarily Schneemann's early paintings and assemblages, as well as her then recent work, also primarily her painted assemblages. Carolee Scheemann is an American artist, known for her exploration of sexuality and women's themes, especially as they relate to the art world. While sometimes associated with the fluxus and happenings movements, Schneeman's work often foresaw their philosophical tendencies. Schneeman also explored the boundaries of visual and performance art, producing both film and performance pieces. VERY GOOD condition. Minor fading to the jacket, with some creasing and scuffing along the rear extremities. Minor fraying at the tips of the corners and spine. Minor fading and edgewear to the book. Interior clean and solid with previous owner's (to whom the book is inscribed to) embossment in blind to the first endpaper and title page. With an invitation to the opening reception laid in.
