Joseph P. Hester (b. 1939) is a retired American philosopher and educator whose work has focused on ethics, philosophical inquiry, and gifted education. Author of Philosophy for Young Thinkers, Hester advocated using philosophical discussion to strengthen students' reasoning skills and moral development, making this volume an early example of inquiry-based ethics education. He earned a B.A. in Social Sciences from Lenoir-Rhyne College (1961), a B.D. and Th.M. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (1964, 1967) and his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Georgia (1973), where he served as a teaching assistant in philosophy and a research assistant with the Georgia Studies of Creative Behavior.…
