Rail transportation also helped define Castle Shannon's historic boundaries through the mid-20th century. Lifelong Castle Shannon resident Sam Sciullo Jr. worked with members of the Castle Shannon Revitalization Corporation to create this history of the borough. The photographs that appear come from private collections, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Castle Shannon Volunteer Fire Department, the St. Anne School, and members of the Castle Shannon Revitalization Corporation.
