140, [4] pp., small 4to, illustrated with 35 plates (one foldout), green printed wrapper. The sale catalogue of 640 lots from the library of J. W. Hely-Hutchinson (1881-1955). Elected a Roxburghe Club member in 1947, Hely-Hutchinson presented to the club "Twelve Books in Fine Bindings from the Library of J. W. Hely-Hutchinson, described and discussed by Howard M. Nixon" (1953), one of the the club's most esteemed publications. Printed list of prices and buyers' names laid in (prices in pencil noted alongside some of the lots in the catalogue). This copy belonged to J. C. C. Taylor of Sotheby's, with his signature in ink on upper wrapper panel. Also the copy of Robert S Pirie, with the Robert S Pirie Reference Library book label. Good copy overall; contents generally fine, spine worn, small chip to one corner of lower wrapper panel, some of the usual age-toning, a few scattered marks, light handling wear, and small light corner bump.
