About this Item

Cream printed paper covers with black lettering and illustration on front. Covers have a few small nicks and tears and light creasing along edges. Light overall soiling and toning to covers as well. Binding tight. Pages lightly toned but otherwise unmarked. Auction catalogue for the sale of the Edwin Watt Pascoe Collection, held February 17, 1930, at the Hall of Arts Studio, 1757 North Highland Ave., Hollywood, conducted by A. H. Weil, Auctioneer. Public exhibition was held February 16 - 17, 1930. An interesting look at a Depression era auction in Hollywood, CA. The foreword notes that the sale was necessitated by Pascoe's urgent need to raise cash to prevent further foreclosures, and that items were expected to sell at only a fraction of their value. Notable lots include an Important Large Renaissance Plaque and an Important Russian Enamel and Lapis Lazuli Clock Set, the latter illustrated in the catalog and virtually identical to the Austrian silver gilt, enamel, and lapis lazuli clock set now offered by Mayfair Gallery, London.
