Brown buckram cloth to this 1868 hardback book published by D. Appleton (New York). Cover has some rubbings and shelf wear. Former owner's name is stamped on 1st end paper "H. W. Guy, Muscotah, Kansas". In 1869, "Watson and Guy" opened a hardware store in Muscotah, Kansas and we believe that is probably H. W. Guy. Muscotah, Kansas. Muscotah was being developed along the Central Branch Union Pacific Railroad at exactly that time: the railroad acquired the new townsite in 1867, and it was surveyed that fall. Interior of the book is devoid of writing and in very good condition. (BR) Shelf 216.
