Synopsis
Caught & Told - Humorous Cricketing Anecdotes contains more than 100 anecdotes that former India cricketer Sandeep Patil and leading cricket writer Clayton Murzello have collected from cricketers from all over the world, across generations. They prove beyond doubt that cricket is not just a game to be played, but enjoyed too, with its own brand of eccentrics (and eccentricities), and events that are a direct consequence of locker-room camaraderie.
Leading International cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Ian Chappell, Rahul Dravid, John Wright to name a few have contributed to this book of amusing anecdotes from the world of cricket.
About the Author
Sandeep Patil
Born in 1956, Sandeep Patil was one of most entertaining players on the international stage in the 1980s. In his short international career spanning five years, he came up with some impact performances. In Australia in 1980-81 he took on the likes of Dennis Lillee, Len Pascoe, Rodney Hogg and the might of Greg Chappell's Australians to plunder 174 at the Adelaide Oval. If that was his finest hour, he gave power hitting a good name when he scored 24 off Bob Willis in Old Trafford, 1982.
When not wielding his willow, Patil had other interests and that including editing a Marathi magazine called Shatkar. He's been known to be a prankster and is never short of a story, some of which have made this collection of anecdotes.
Clayton Murzello
Clayton Murzello once sold sports books at Marine Sports, the only specialist sports bookshop in India before deciding to get closer to his favorite sport, cricket. He leapt into journalism at 1989 and today is Sports Editor of Mid-Day, India's largest selling tabloid. Clayton hit the road in 1994, and along with traveling to the far corners of India, has covered cricket in five countries, and been to two World Cups. At the 2005 Sports Journalists Federation of India's Awards, Clayton's won the top prize for the best off-beat story.
