The Cause

A stolen superweapon. A rogue physicist. A conspiracy that could shatter the Union.

Deep within the covert labs of Area 51, physicist Rick Donnelly achieves the impossible: unlocking the final breakthrough to make America’s first anti-gravity aircraft fully operational—and virtually unstoppable. But Donnelly casts aside his oath to the United States. His loyalty lies with The Cause—a secretive alliance of powerful families determined to carve a new nation from the American South.

Armed with gravity-wave technology and a century-old blueprint for secession, The Cause is prepared to impose its demands—even if it means igniting a second civil war.

The FBI turns to Special Agent Frank Deal, the nation’s foremost hunter of weapons of mass destruction. But his investigation takes an unexpected turn—to a quiet university in Alabama, where four students have uncovered a secret society with chilling ties to The Cause.

With time running out and the nation on the brink, Deal and his unlikely allies must stop a conspiracy that threatens to rewrite American history—and destabilize the world.
