About the Author

John Bicheno has graduate degrees in Engineering, Management and Systems, but more importantly, almost two decades of exposure to Lean. He is a former Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering at the University of Witwatersrand and now directs the MSc in Lean Operations at Cardiff Business School. He also acts as "Lean Counsellor" to several organizations.

John began "peeling the Lean onion" in 1984 when he worked with Toyota, GEC and Afrox in South Africa. He is still peeling.
