Synopsis:

All states have their own special holidays and celebrations, and Hawai i tops the list. Every island holiday has its ethnic roots, particular customs and it s special foods. Celebrating Island Style touches on each holiday and explores its ethnic background and significance. This book includes a large selection of easy to follow recipes with traditional and contemporary flare.

About the Author: Wanda A. Adams was born and raised on Maui and is of Portuguese-Irish-English heritage. She grew up in the kitchen of her parents' small hotel, learned to cook from her Portuguese grandmother, took "home economics" in high school and began cooking for her family after her mother gave her "The Betty Crocker Cookbook." The rest is her life: 35 years as a food writer and editor for daily newspapers in Washington state and Hawaii. In 2005, she researched and wrote "The Island Plate: 150 years of Recipes and Food Lore from The Honolulu Advertiser," which sold out in three editions. She lives on the island of O'ahu with her husband, Carl E. "Sonny" Koonce, and their three spoiled cats, Precious, Popoki and Pa'i.
