The anthology was originally published by Gruppo Editoriale Fabbri, Bompiani, Sonzogno, Etas in Milan to accompany an exhibition of Celtic art and civilization at Palazzo Grassi in Venice in 1991, and seems to have been reissued in 1997 by RCS Libri. Contributors from throughout Europe focus on archaeological remains on the continent, though the final sections on British Isles and Christian Celts include a couple of authors familiar to Anglophone Celtic scholars. About the Author
Professor Venceslas Kruta of Paris, Professor Otto Hermann Frey of Marburg, Professor Miklós Szabó of Budapest, and Professor Barry Raftery of Dublin were all members of the Scientific Committee formed to oversee the collaboration of more than 100 scholars in the most complete exhibition ever of Celtic art and civilization, held at the Palazzo Grassi in Venice in 1991.
